In line with the recent goals of both PLDT / Smart and Globe, newly elected President Duterte sent a powerful message earlier in his first SONA that he wants better internet connectivity for the Philippines.

First, the President stated in his speech he wanted WiFi access with no charge in selected public places. What he meant there is more coverage, steadier connection, and more places with good FREE WiFi.
In that sense, people who badly needs internet won't need to use their paid data plans anymore on public areas. This should be helpful one.

| DICT to develop National Broadband Plan |
Apart from the FREE WiFi service, President Duterte ordered the newly established DICT to develop a National Broadband Plan to accelerate deployment of fiber optic cables and wireless technologies in the Philippines.
In a long term effect, that will hasted the speed, connectivity, and reliability the internet here in our country.
