According to Atty. Froilan Castelo, Globe General Counsel, Globe Telecom is ready to comply with the government directive to provide the access for 911 and 8888 numbers for emergency and complaint hotlines starting August 1 of 2016.

In that regard, the company will give way to the government and replace their 8888 hotline into a new one. In case you missed it, 8888 is currently used as Globe's company customer hotline for more than 57 million subscribers.
The government allowed Globe to transition in 30 to 45 days into the new hotline that can be accessed via SMS or voice. Globe will advise its customers once the new hotline is working and out.
Lastly, the local telco giant said that they'll will strictly comply with the directives of the government in implementing the hotlines to the public. This includes whether calls to 911 and 8888 will be free of charge or not.
