PHP 0.42 per reduction in power rates this month
In particular, Meralco users will enjoy a PHP 0.42 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) reduction in power rates this month or total net decrease is almost PHP 1.00 per kWh since May. It'll equate to around PHP 84 of savings for a typical household consuming 200 kWh.
Meralco Public Information Office Head Joe Zaldarriaga explained that the overall reduction in rate is due to the lower charges from Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). It is brought by improved supply conditions in the Luzon grid.
On the other news, Meralco revealed the recent inauguration of its latest solar microgrid system in Cagbalete Island, Quezon, a testament to the company's continued commitment for rural electrification and its renewable energy advocacy.
It is a microgrid facility composed of solar panels, battery storage, and generator set. It is expected to power up to 600 households and businesses by the end of 2019.
